"YO DOC!!! Something's interrupting my game of solitaire! How dare they-wait! It's from the CEO of the Ritter Corporation, himself!! Oh my gosh! They're sending over a new kid! Man this one's a real stinker! She has all kinds of things going wrong! There's schizoaffective disorder, social anxiety, agoraphobia, plus Aspegers… Man, Doc, I'm scared, but instead of telling you I'll just send ya the poor kid's student application!

Ritter, Olive C73538da05c50fa4fef70f6a6135a723

Name: Olive Ritter

Age: 16

Day of Birth:April 30th

Gender: Female

Height: 5’2”

Weight: 112 lbs.

Description: Olive has a very closed disposition. With a hunched, downward-looking posture and an avoidant glaze, she sends out all of the subconscious signs of somebody who would rather be invisible. She’s fairly small for her age, standing at only five feet and two inches. She is on the slimmer side of average, with an average body type; more pear-shaped than anything. Olive has brunette hair with a slight natural wave to it, cut short and layered around her face. (She finds long hair troublesome to manage, and has always kept it short and sees no reason to change it.) Her face is round and young-looking, with soft features. She could probably pass for somebody several years younger. Her eyes are blue. She does not wear makeup.

Olive, habitual as ever, rarely changes up her outfit choice. It usually consists of a teeshirt and denim jeans, plus tennis shoes. Over this, she wears a large, grey winter jacket that effectively hides any hint of a figure. In her effort to avoid interaction, she nearly always wears a pair of headphones. Overall, not a bad looking girl, but not one to stand out or catch attention.

Personality: Olive is somewhat of a hermit. If there were no classes to attend, she would gladly stay in her room all day and be left to her own devices. She is inept when it comes to dealing with other people, and finds it very stressful. When she does deal with people, she is extremely withdrawn, answering in few words. She’s very literal and very blunt, and often misunderstands humor and use of figurative language. Physically, she shows little interest: minimal eye contact and change in facial expression. It’s all somewhat robotic. Her social awkwardness is a subject of deep shame, rooted in her family’s disapproval. She avoids human interaction even to the point of using the façade of headphones in public to discourage others from approaching her.

Olive is also very habitual. She likes to stick to a schedule and rarely deviates. Same path to class, same seat, same kind of sandwich for lunch, same homework schedule… Being forced to do otherwise makes her unsure and uncomfortable, and she will try to resume despite any interruptions. She dislikes loud and crowded places and prefers to avoid them if possible. Olive attends class as little as possible.

She’s also extremely intelligent, focused primarily on physics. She has studied it with a near-obsessive vigor ever since childhood, and her knowledge is comparable to a graduate student. Her specialty is particle phyisics. (Her family bribed her with a trip to the Hadron Collider in order to get her to agree to attend Melancholic.) Despite this, she still struggles in other subjects such as history and art, mostly out of lack of interest.

An application of her passion for physics, and a favorite pastime, is reading science fiction novels. It's her method for escaping reality, besides actually hallucinating.

Part of the reason Olive came here was to improve herself, but it seems quite hopeless…

Past: Olive was a disappointment. After several failed rounds of in vitro fertilization, Olive was the lucky embryo that held on. She was born to the CEO and founder of a large pharmaceutical corporation and his wife. As such, she was expected to grow up and do great things. Perhaps to even take over the business someday. It was soon discovered that would not be the case. Olive was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at a young age, and had some developmental issues (especially socially). Her family tried very hard to suppress her odd behavior and help her to become "normal". From very young, she knew that she was doing things wrong. She tried very hard to fit into the charismatic family mold, to little avail. She was only interested in science and physics. Business and cordiality were completely foreign to her.

Things got worse. When she hit puberty, her stress began to manifest in escapist visions and hallucinations. Her science fiction novels began to come to life, causing some escapades that cost her family money and dignity. In one incident, she nearly got a poor lab tech boiled alive. In another, she ended up stark naked huddled under the desk at an important meeting. She was diagnosed with bipolar type schizoaffective disorder. Her family wasn't exactly supportive, leading to further withdrawal and anxiety.

Finally, her family more or less deemed her a lost cause in succeeding her father in the company, and decided the people at Melancholic could help her more than they could.

Likes: Olive likes solitude. She likes studying physics, reading science fiction novels, and escaping from reality. She likes going through the day unnoticed, and times where she doesn't have to go to class at all. Likes to stay in her room, where she feels safe. Very grateful for the internet, which allows her to access information from others without having to interact. Likes '80s music. She is fond of animals, cats especially. Likes coffee and sandwiches. Also likes cough drops.

Dislikes: Olive doesn't like being around people, especially those she doesn't know. She doesn't like interacting with them, and the fact that she is extremely socially awkward. Doesn't like crowds or large, strange areas. Dislikes deviating from her daily routine. Is put off by violent, loud people. Is annoyed by technical errors in science fiction. Also dislikes being cold, and physically exposed (two things that usually come hand-in-hand). Doesn't like being touched.

DISEASES: Asperger Syndrome (not really a disease, but still affects her very much), social anxiety disorder, avoidant personality disorder, schizoaffective disorder (medicated), agoraphobia.

"Well Doc, didja get it?!..Good, but what should we do with it? WHAT! So we're really putting the kid into Ward B...You know best Doc. I didn't even graduate from Nursing School! I'm just a lazy bum-what was that? Oh ok, I'll hang up the phone now, Doc...
